Phenylpropanolamine (PPA)

Note also the FDA's comments at the end of the message.

Apparently, this was caused by a medication that is deadly. Here are the details and I suggest you pass it on to your loved ones and others.

I would like to thank those of you who expressed condolences on the recent passing of my mother. She suffered a hemorrhagic stroke while she was driving home from my house at 7:30 and passed away at 8:30. My mother's stroke and passing was an enormous shock to my family because she did not have any symptoms or risk factors for a stroke. Just the week before she had gone to her doctor for a check up and received a clean bill of health. She did, however, develop a cold while she was visiting me and had taken Alka Seltzer Cold Plus for 3 days. Since her passing, we have learned that Alka Seltzer is one of the many cold medicines that contains Phenylpropanolamine (PPA) which can cause hemorrhagic stokes orcerebral bleeding even with the first use. I am forwarding a list of other medications that currently use PPA. These medicines are supposedly being recalled but my mother just purchased this medication less than two weeks ago. Pharmaceutical companies have known about this danger for years, we unfortunately, did not.

I urge you to review the list of medicines with PPA and avoid these medications. All drugs containing "PHENYLPROPANOLAMINE" are dangerous. You may want to try calling the 800 number listed on most drug boxes and inquire about a REFUND. Please read this CAREFULLY. Also, please pass this on to everyone you know. STOP TAKING anything containing this ingredient. It has been linked to increased hemorrhagic stroke (bleeding in brain) among women ages 18-49 in the three days after starting use of medication. Problems were not found in men, but the FDA recommended that everyone (even children) seek alternative medicine.

I just found out and called the 800# on the container for Triaminic and they informed me that they are voluntarily recalling the following medicines because of a certain ingredient that is causing strokes and seizures in children:

3D Cough Relief Yellow 3D Expectorant

They are asking you to call them at 800-548-3708 with the lot number on the box so they can send you postage for you to send it back to them, and they will also issue you a refund. If you know of anyone else with small children,

PLEASE PASS THIS ON. THIS IS SERIOUS STUFF!

DO PASS ALONG TO ALL ON YOUR MAILING LIST so people are informed. They can then pass it along to their families.

One of my hens started laying eggs already and has decided she needs to sit on them. So, I marked all 8 of them and began the watch game. Well, today I went to check on her and heard chirping....

It is hard to see them hiding under her there are 3 as of today, not sure how many will hatch but they are soo cute. Each of the boys got to hold one.

So, we spent some time at Morrow Bridge jumping and playing in the sand and the water. (Of course LOADS of laundry) Keon played lego's, watched TV, played on his Laptop, ate tortellini (TONS OF IT!!) and for dinner is having mac n cheese (homemade) with some local shrimp that I'm going to fry up in garlic and butter.....yummy!!! His cake is a sun ....well what I can do to make a sun without a good craft store near. So it is a 5 layer...round orb type thing. Then he put the candles on the top and off we went! Birthday song and cut into it. As he ate it he was a bird....which means he doesn't need a fork. Too funny. More picts to come. Just wanted to put a few up for parents.

So, yesterday I cleared the front yard with some help from my wonderful neighbor Mr JP WILLIS. He helped me burn off the front yard. Last week I tore down the barbed wire fence and the fence posts. And cut down all the vegetation that had grown over the years. Which left LOTS of leaves, and TONS of grass. All now gone. The large mound of dirt is left from the culvert being in. Mr JP is going to till that under once the ground dries. At which point this front area will have some plants put into it, those plants are on the side of my house waiting.

Can't do concrete here because the land has been turned and not complacted. So, I was talking to a neighbor about it and they came over with some rock. RIGHT ON!!! Drive way!

And...played some games.

Then Jerry and I couldn't take it any longer. Had to lock the kids up to give us 2 seconds of peace. It is just a shame that the bars were able to be moved.

Yet, we still had a ton of fun!
